Last year I designed the boys’ Valentine’s for school and got a somewhat appreciative response. Thankful for the effort, less thankful for the design. Apparently 6 & 8 year old boys don’t dig the whole garden gnome thing. Whatevs. This year, I was determined to deliver something more on target. i was even nice enough to ask them what they’d like. I hold mother’s guilt and a few glasses of wine responsible. Owen, our 7 year old, opted for the all over Pinterest super hero lollipop. Dave the Garden Gnome, also known as ‘The Thinking Gnome’ died yesterday after a courageous battle with a set of quadruplets. He was 8 months (800 years in gnome years) old. Born in Taiwan, Dave immigrated to the United States with only the crate he was shipped in; eventually being adopted into a perennial flower garden. Soft spoken and reserved, he was most often thought of as stoic gnome; whose unresponsive demeanor led some to consider him aloof. I’m such a jewelry bore. I love collecting it, but wear the same things every damn day. I’ve got five pieces that are my “daily drivers;” The Tiffany Bead Earrings and matching bracelet, the Tiffany Elsa Perreti Pendant, my watch by Toy Watch Co. and last (but not least) my wedding band, anniversary band and engagement ring which I stack together.
